The AOWMA will release an enforcement framework that’s designed to identify systems not built to code, and apply corrective action to ensure they are made compliant. This could involve the application of punitive damages against responsible offending parties through procedures allowed under the Safety Codes Act. This strategy is the first of its kind for the Alberta onsite industry and is expected to be in place next month. A separate notice will follow once the strategy’s details are finalized.
