Convention News Update

The AOWMA welcomes back Jerry Stonebridge as our keynote speaker for the 2013 Convention and Trade Show being held in Edmonton on February 21—23.

Jerry brings over 30 years experience as an onsite wastewater system designer, installer and maintenance provider. As well, Jerry is a foundational member and past President of the Washington Onsite Sewerage System Association (WOSSA) and recently stepped down as President of the National Onsite Wastewater Recyclers Association. As the world becomes increasingly focused on ’green’ initiatives, Jerry considers decentralized or onsite wastewater as the pioneer recycling initiative. He will focus on the industry’s ability and need to educate the public and policy makers about the value the onsite wastewater industry provides as wastewater recyclers.

The AOWMA is pleased to host Cate Soroczan, Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation to our Septic Summit program on February 21. The CMHC invests heavily in onsite wastewater research as it pertains to the quality of life for Canadians. Most recently , the CMHC contracted with Novus Environmental of Guelph, Ontario, to perform a study on onsite wastewater management issues across Canada. This study will look for methods and mechanisms that allow communities to manage their private sewage infrastructure in order to protect the homeowner’s investment and the environment while protecting public health and safety.

There is a compelling line up of technical presentations, educational presentations and information sessions to participate in. Support our supplier and manufacturer sector by visiting the trade show. Finally, spend some time networking with your peers and sharing information and experiences.
