The 2014 Convention and Trade Show offers wonderful opportunities to learn, share, prepare for the upcoming installation season and grow your business.
The event opens on Thursday, March 6 with the Septic Summit. This series of presentations focuses largely on municipal issues, solutions for rural growth, permitting, inspection and enforcement and new research and program opportunities. Participating in the Septic Summit will keep onsite stakeholders in the loop about the many changes and activities happening in their industry.
On Thursday afternoon, following the Septic Summit, the trade show opens. Visit the booths and support your industry manufacturer and supplier base. Supper will be served in the trade show hall allowing delegates to relax and network. During the course of the evening, technical sessions will be offered by our exhibitors to showcase the products and services they provide to the industry.
Thursday evening ends with a sponsored Pub Night Meet and Greet. Enjoy a drink and chat with other stakeholders in the industry.
Friday , March 7 is a brand new day. The program begins with an overview of the proposed changes to the 2009 Standard of Practice. The Standard is currently under review and changes are in the works for 2014. Alf Durnie leads a presentation outlining what the industry can anticipate in the 2014 version of the SOP.
The Trade Show opens at 9:00 a.m. and stays open until 2:00 p.m. During that time, technical presentations will be offered by our supplier and manufacturer base. In the late afternoon, the business program keynote will take place, setting the stage for the conference sessions to follow on Saturday.
The AOWMA Annual General Meeting will take place at lunch hour in the trade show hall on Friday, March 7. During the AGM, elections will take place for the 2014 Board of Directors.
Following the trade show and presentations on Friday, the AOWMA, and industry sponsors, will host an evening social with entertainment.
Saturday, March 8 is the main plenary of this event. The focus of the day is education and research. AOWMA is pleased to offer a series of presentations detailing research from across Canada and the States. With an industry rooted in the soil’s ability to rehabilitate wastewater, there are always new studies and research results to review. Increase your level of understanding by participating in these educational opportunities.
Saturday, March 8 also offers a business program for those wishing to enhance their business skills. During the morning on Saturday, Joanne Dennis offers Entreprenuering in Partnership for those women who partner with their husbands in the family business. The morning workshop is followed by an afternoon networking session.
On Saturday afternoon, Emile Beaudry provides his expertise as he presents a session on how to Grow Your Business With Better Business Proposals. Following this session, Rick MacLennan delivers a workshop on the five keys to building a sustainable company. His workshop entitled Build to Last—Build to Sell will help you set realistic goals for your business.
For those wanting to learn more about designing At-Grade Systems, a workshop is being delivered on Sunday, March 9. This workshop promises to refresh delegates on the critical components of at-grade design, helping to prepare the industry for the inclusion of the At-Grade System in the 2014 Standard of Practice.
