Another successful and well-attended Site and Soils Evaluation Field Day was held in Grande Prairie on August 10. Thanks to association member Rick Phillips who provided the site, which is situated on property where he is building a home.

Participants at a site and soils field day have the opportunity to put the information learned in the classroom into practice in the field. Led by an AOWMA instructor, they initially observe the proper methods to assess and log a soils pit and then they team up and assess one or more of the available pits prepared for the class and practice hand texturing, soils assessment and logging.

At the end of the class, discussion is held on the most suitable system for the site.
An installation day will be held at this site in early fall for those interested in participating in a system installation.
