Representatives from the AOWMA participated in the December 6 meeting of the Septage and Onsite Wastewater Initiatives Strategic Advisory Committee.

This committee is comprised of representatives from Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, Alberta Municipal Affairs, Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation, AOWMA, Alberta innovates – Energy & Environment Services, Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, and Alberta Association of Municipal Districts & Counties.

At the December 6 meeting, the AOWMA reported on proposals to update and expand the current Onsite Wastewater Practitioner Training Program in recognition of the new demographic that program services. As well, a presentation was made regarding a proposal for certification training for the pump and haul community, and finally a report on enforcement initiatives.

The focus of this committee is to look for solutions for areas of common concern from onsite wastewater industry stakeholders.
