Close to 20 people attended the Mound Installation Field Training Day in Gull Lake, AB on August 15, 2017. This practical training day was a great opportunity to get hands-on experience building a Sand Mound Onsite Wastewater Treatment System.
The local municipal regulations required a packaged treatment plant for the initial treatment and the presence of a high water table meant that a mound was required to ensure proper vertical separation. The presence of loamy fine sand created a requirement for a reduced sand layer loading rate according to the Standard of Practice.
All these considerations ensured that the field day was a good learning experience for those in attendance.
AOWMA would like to thank member Jim Wigmore for the opportunity to provide training on his building site.
