The Septic Sense program has just been completed for the winter 2017 season. Over the past eight weeks, the association has provided homeowner education in 19 locations throughout Alberta. Feedback from the municipal districts and counties who have participated has been excellent, with many districts noting that they would like to provide multiple sessions throughout the year.
The Septic Sense programs were delivered in the following locations: Athabasca, Clearwater/Red Deer, Kneehill, Lac Ste Anne, Foothills (2), Greenview (2), Milk River, Parkland, Rocky View, Bonnyville, Camrose, Leduc (2), Wheatland, Barrhead, Wetaskiwin/Leduc, and Yellowhead.
The information provided at the Septic Sense presentations focusses on proper operation and maintenance of existing septic systems. Homeowners are made aware of the regulations in the Province and of the requirement to use a trained, certified contractor to design and install their system.
