Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association (AOWMA) is inviting expressions of interest from experienced onsite wastewater professionals who are interested in becoming Trainer Candidates for the Onsite Wastewater Practitioner Program.
This opportunity is ideal for seasoned designers, installers, and engineers who specialize in onsite wastewater systems and are interested in expanding their role into training and education within the industry.
What This Opportunity Offers
Selected Trainer Candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to the professional development of Alberta’s onsite wastewater workforce
- Build instructional and facilitation skills through mentorship and guided training
- Serve as back-up instructors to support program delivery as needed
- Share practical field expertise and industry knowledge with new and existing practitioners
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following:
- A Certificate of Competency under Alberta Municipal Affairs, or
- A Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) with relevant onsite wastewater experience
Ideal Candidates Will Also Have
- Extensive hands-on experience in system design, installation, maintenance, or engineering
- Strong knowledge of provincial standards, regulations, and best practices
- Clear communication skills and a genuine interest in mentoring the next generation
- Availability to participate in trainer development activities and teaching shadow opportunities
